
Siu Chui Li is in demand as a piano teacher, instrumental repertoire coach, English Art Song repertoire coach and collaborative pianist. She has experience of 30 years teaching and coaching to the highest levels.. Based in Saffron Walden, Essex, Siu also teaches at The Perse Upper School, with pupils going on to have careers as pianists, music directors and arrangers amongst her past pupils. The main aim of teaching for Siu is to foster a great love and understanding of music, with technical rigour giving the student the ability to flourish, reaching their potential both musically and virtuosically. Siu is a specialist chamber music performer and coach for all levels including professionals. Her work with strings, wind and singers is extensive and has been integral part of her own learning journey which has allowed her to bring a wealth of understanding from many different world class pedagogues in the classical music world to her own coaching.
Siu also teaches at Saffron Walden Centre for Young Musicians, working with young musicians who are both talented and passionate about music. Siu has collaborated with well known artist and illustrator James Mayhew, putting on concerts and creating video content to inspire children to explore classical music through performance and live illustration. Through lockdown Siu collaborated with Alex Redington and James Mayhew to produce 'A Brush With Music' which was a series of short films of violin and piano pieces illustrated by James in time to the music.
As a concert pianist, Siu has given chamber concerts throughout the British Isles, Europe and South East Asia. She has performed in major festivals in the UK, including Chichester Festival, West Cork Festival, the Isle of Man Festival, and across the Channel in the Festival du Menton in France.In England Siu has performed in notable venues such as the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and Purcell Room, the Royal Opera House, The Reform Club in London, and De Montford Hall. Her collaborations include internationally renowned flautist Susan Milan, violinist Alex Redington, Icelandic mezzo soprano Sigridur Kristjansdottir, Principal Horn in the LSO Timothy Jones, international cellist Josephine Knight, Royal Opera House clarinetist Charys Green, and the acclaimed Doric String Quartet Quartet amongst others.
